WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPES WORKSHOP

Saturday 27th April, 10am-12pm

Learn how to paint landscapes in watercolour. In this workshop you’ll learn how to represent distance and perspective in your work and how to capture atmosphere and a sense of place. You’ll use watercolour techniques such as smooth washes, ‘wet in wet’ and using watercolour pencils to add detail. The class will include tutor demonstrations and small studies to practice techniques. You’ll then apply what you’ve learned to your own full landscape painting to take home.

All materials included and suitable for beginners.

Your tutor

Kate is an artist working from her studio in Cardiff. She draws on traditional techniques but applies her own instinctive style using glazes, drips and textures to combine the representational with the abstract. She was recently shortlisted for Jackson’s Painting Prize. Recent exhibitions include The Senedd (National Assembly for Wales), The Riverfront Gallery, Fringe Arts Bath and Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.

For all workshops we offer a full refund if you call or email us to cancel at least 48 hours before the start of your booking. We are unable to offer you any refund if your workshop is due to commence within 48 hours, or if you do not attend.

Parking

The carpark outside the building is reserved for staff only until 6pm (including weekends) and you need a permit to park here. The nearest street parking is just over the bridge along the river on either Taff Embankment or Taffs Mead Embankment. This is charged with meters so do check signs but it is a very short walk from here to the studio. We are also just a 10 minute walk from Cardiff Central train station so easily accessible by public transport. If you do require parking on site we have two visitor permits that can be used by students with prior arrangement but visitor parking is limited and cannot be guaranteed.
